About

Who is behind this site.

This site is published by Startvest LLC. Startvest is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) based in Hampstead, North Carolina. We build tools for small businesses operating in over-legislated markets.

Tom founded Startvest after twenty years of enterprise systems work. He has sat on both sides of the compliance table: as the engineer building the evidence trail, and as the operator trying to prove good faith after the claim shows up.

Why this site exists.

Most small businesses find out about ADA website compliance when a demand letter shows up. The resources online are one of two things. Legal-adjacent marketing from plaintiff's firms, or overlay vendors selling a fake fix.

Neither helps. The first is designed to scare you into hiring them. The second sells you a JavaScript widget that plaintiff's firms already know how to defeat in court. The FTC has fined at least one of the major overlay vendors for the claims they make.

This site exists to give SMBs the documentation path that actually holds up. WCAG conformance work. Remediation records. Accessibility statements that match reality. The boring paperwork that wins cases.

What is coming.

A defensive documentation platform is in development for launch in 60 to 90 days under a separate brand. Until then this site is product-free. Use the templates. Read the playbooks. Share them.

If you want to know when the platform opens, leave your email on any article page with a lead magnet. One email when it is ready. No newsletter.
